Time To Say "The Word"

With the "seepage" now discovered in the Gulf, the environmental damage done - and threatened - is too catastrophic to either contemplate or tolerate. The price of oil needs to reflect the true dangers this type of fuel presents. Thus, "the word". Taxes. Like Europe, we should dramatically escalate taxes on "carbon"; especially dirty fuels like oil and coal. Instead of spending vast sums on trying to make these inherently dirty fuels clean, we should just invest in straightforwardly clean fuels. I am talking about a MASSIVE investment - a Manhattan Project-style program. A crash program, fueled (pardon the pun) with whopping amounts of money generated by......TAXES! "Algae" should become a household word, as pleasant as "taxes" is despised. Let's have the courage to not just say the word, but to confront the plain reality sitting, like an oil slick in the Gulf, before our eyes. Norm
